BearyShot SR (Stainless steel Regular) and SS (Stainlessless steel Subminminiatiatureture) is stainlessless steel shot designed as weights and stuffing for teddy bear making.

Features
  • BearyShot is made of 18-8 stainless steel, which is rust resistant and nontoxic. You find the same material in your kitchen, a sink, knives and tableware.
  • You can use BearyShot for bears in various sizes. The material of the shot offers enough weight in small volume. Because of its tiny size, you can scarcely feel the rugged touch through your bear's fur.
    • For Miniature Bears>> Suitable for stuffing small or narrow space
    • For Medium to Large Bears>> You can get enough weight with small volume. When you stuff a larger bear, you'd better use a fabric bag filled with the shot. This way, the shot will not scatter inside the bear.
  • BearyShot is in polyhedral shape with a rather smooth surface, not a ball. That is, the shot will settle stably while you're stuffing a bear with it. And since the surface is smooth, when you press a cluster of the shot inside the bear, the cluster will crush easily, giving soft feeling. Also, it will not go farther than balls in case you spill it on a floor.
  • The manufacturing processes of BearyShot do not include forming of a shiny fine ball. So, we can offer BearyShot at a lower price than stainless steel balls in the same size range.
How I got to BearyShot;

Years ago, I thought while making my mini ted; Stainless steel balls give a bear a good weight and stability. But, why so expensive?
Then I thought a bear was not a precision machine and did not need accurately rounded balls. I wondered if I could obtain unfinished stainless steel balls out from a manufacturing process. But, it was difficult since I had to buy 500kg balls a lot to extract unfinished balls. Too much!
After a lot of investigation and research, I found stainless steel shot, which should work almost perfect for a bear in spite of its bad looking rugged shape. I added some more processes on it to finally get BearyShot.

Since the manufacturing process is totally different from balls, I was able to make inexpensive non-spherical stainless steel weights.
Furthermore, BearyShot is
ideal as an alternative to lead shot which is defined to be toxic. (Morikuma)

Notice
  • Keep out of reach of little children.
In case someone takes the shots internally or puts them in a nose, etc., consult a doctor. The shot is not toxic, though.
  • In case you get shots inside your eye, NEVER rub an eye. Use clean flowing water to get rid of the shots. If they will not come out please consult a doctor.
  • Be careful that your pet animal does not eat the shot. BearyShot does not contain toxic ingredients, however.
  • If you spill the shots on a floor it will get slippery since shots roll. Please collect spilt shots as soon as you can.
  • Stainless steel is hard and conductive. Be careful not to drop shots into an appliance, PC/keyboard or any kind of machine. In case you do, shut down the machine and get rid of the shots promptly.
  • Storage
    • Do not use containers made of fragile material such as glass or polystyrene (styrol). They may break when dropped or given a shock, due to heavy weight of the shot. A container made of polyethylene or a thick polyethylene bag is recommended.
    • Contact with rusty iron cause transfer of rust to the shot.
    • Contact with metal other than stainless steel may cause rust when water exists between the two.
    • Do not expose the shot to salt content (seawater, food, etc.) or sulfuric content (gas in volcanic region, etc.) for an excessive period of time.
    • In general, you may safely store the shot in a plastic(polyethylene) bag indoors.
  • In manufacturing processes, the shot may contain minute flakes and dust of stainless steel. Such alien substances were removed as much as possible. However, the product may contain a little of them.
Also, when shots are rubbed together a very small amount of dust is produced. And, when shots are shaken strongly in a container, a very few minute flakes are generated.
This is because the shot's surface has rough portions. We believe this is not harmful when the shot is used for bear making.
  • There might be a very few shots that are not fully rounded. They are not harmless in practical use.
  • 18-8 stainless steel is usually not magnetic. But, due to the manufacturing process using impact, BearyShot shots are magnetic. To lower the cost no demagnetization was applied.
Magnetism can be useful to gather shots when scattered.
  • Size 1.2mm SS shots may get through a gap between a cotter pin and a disk hole. When you make a bear with a loose jointing using cotter pins & disks, shots might spill through the gap. Please take this into consideration.
  • Sizes are in nominal values. Due to a non-spherical shape, the sizes vary around +10%. Sizes are measured as the distance across.
  • In case you need to dispose of the shot, please follow the local rules and handle it as metal waste.
